A friend wants to buy a 23 premium with 7000 miles. The carfax says the reason for the lemon was "stop safely now message on - Vehicle stops on its own and sterring is off center" the ford dealer says it's repaired and they are part of a for RAV program and they sell tons of lemons. My friend will not qualify for the zero intrest and their CU max on a car loan is 35. The car with shipping comes to 32 otd. They plan on keeping the car and not reselling I just don't want them to SOL if this issue comes back. According to the dealer the original warranty still applies

wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Far too many potential issues and the level of hassle especially since he's not buying it locally, not worth it.

If they considered it, might consider if Ford took any effort to update it by posting the VIN in the FRDS thread. SSN messages are unfortunately common for several easily-resolved issues. The CARFAX report lists two problems which should be unrelated. The elephant in the room is if they resolved the main problem…are there others they did not. Great car, and Ford will honor warranty…but how long might you be without a car if they do? In my current position I would probably do it. Twenty-something me would not have had money for that kind of risk.
