Lock/unlock button and indicator inside doors (both driver and passenger side) stopped working in my Mach E. This have been the case for at least a week, maybe longer. I suspect that this breakage is related to the first OTA. I don't believe I have received the second OTA (but I'm not certain).
  • The buttons no longer work. Pressing the lock button no longer lock the doors.
    • I can tell by trying to open rear doors from inside. When locked, the rear doors require a second pull from inside to open. When unlocked, they open on the first pull.
  • The indicator light also stopped working. The doors auto locks after a certain speed. Once I stop, I notice that the indicator light isn't on. However, when I try to open the rear door from inside after stopping, it requires two pulls.
Did any one else encounter the same problem? Any ideas on what I may try to resolve this?

My Mach E is a Premium ER AWD.

I think youā€™ll have to bring it in to the dealer.
I would have hoped otherwise. But maybe I really have to bring the car to the dealership.

A few questions. I think you may be knowledgeable enough to have an answer.
  • My understanding is that Ford warranty only covers rental car if the car has to be kept at the dealership overnight. In other words, I'll likely be on my own for my transportation. Is this correct?
  • Is there any downside if I wait? My Mach E currently has a little over 4k miles. Will Ford still cover the repair it if I wait until, say, 10001 miles.

Warranty for that system is 3/36. You've got plenty of time. ?

Thatā€˜s correct. If you have an extended service plan, they usually include first day rental. But the regular warranty only covers a rental car if your car needs to be kept overnight. That being said, a lot of dealers have their own fleet of loaner cars and are willing to let customers use them for any repairs, so you should check.

If the problem isnā€™t driving you nuts, thereā€™s no harm in waiting until you have another reason to bring the car in so you can kill multiple birds with one stone. As @BMT1071 said, youā€˜ve got 3 years or 36k miles of warranty.

I'd go so far as to say that since we have seen at least some updates that exist e.g. the PaaK update and the "oh you live in Illinois?" update that are not (yet) OTA, it's probably reasonable if you can stand to wait to wait until we are sure things have calmed down a bit on that front, then go in and have them do this plus the outstanding SSMs (search the forum for threads titled "SSM" - @breeves002 seems to be posting new threads for each as they come out) all at once.

right now that's my thinking - I want the PaaK update but I don't need it right now (and it's rumored to be coming OTA later in the year anyway), so I'm waiting to avoid multiple dealer trips.

Same here. I'd like to get the Paak update done, but I don't want to have to go to the dealer just for that unless somebody who got it proclaims that it has made PaaK 100% as reliable as a fob. The only report I've seen so far has indicated the opposite. But if anyone else gets the PaaK update, please report back!
