Unlock button not working properly?

On my 2022 Mach E I would always press the unlock button on the charge port if it was still charging on my level 2. Within seconds it would stop charging, the blue lights would turn to white and I would unplug. On my 2023.5 Mach E pressing the unlock button under the same circumstances does nothing. Has something changed?

You shouldn't need to use the unlock button with any L2 chargers and the Mach-E. Typically, pressing the release button on the charger plug handle stops the charging. There could be some minor behavior differences between the 2022 and the newer 2023s like you describe, but it still shouldn't be necessary on either.

The unlock button only functions for L3 charging. I used to push it all the time with no effect on my 2021 Job2 car when on AC charging. ?‍?

I think you may be mistaken about what that button used to do.

Nope. When charging at home on my L2 charger when I pressed the unlock button the blue charging indicating lights immediately turned white and the charging stopped.

Mobile Ford tech came to my door today to deliver a new tire inflator kit as mine was faulty per a tsb. I asked him about the unlock button. He said that is a known problem and an update needs to be done and the vehicle needs to be at the shop for the update.

interesting, on my 23.5 I've never pushed unlock button when level 2 charging, didn't with my 21 either. Page 181 of the 23 manual states the unlock is for DC charging. No mention of it at all in AC charging.
