I have a Bolt EV on order for a while. It's been built but stuck in a parking lot for a while. Now with EV tax credits expiring (local and federal) the cost effectiveness of it isn't as alluring. Plus after driving the Mach-e for months, I and a certain someone else definitely won't agree on who gets to drive which car at what times. ?

So I tracked down a dealer with a good supply of used Mach-e's with reasonable looking online pricing. I assume the price on the lot will be completely different, but I can deal with that and all the other dealer BS.

I have a very late-build '22 GT, and am familiar with the various trim differences.

Are there any major differences between '21, '22, and '23 models that I should be aware of? I know about the dreaded HVBJB issue. They are all pretty low miles; I suspect most are from disappointed winter rangers or from those who didn't really know what they were getting into...

Any red flags I should be looking for with regard to a used Mach-e outside of typical dealer shenanigans?

There are plenty of new Mach Es on the lots, if you qualify for the full $7500 federal incentive you may want to look at new Mach E, unless you are wanting to get that 2021 from Carvana for $50k.

I could care less about the HVBJB update, if you are buying used, I recommend getting the extended warranty, it's cheap if you are keeping the car for long time.

try to get something built mid 2022+ ideally.

I got a 21 because of the price. Not sure what 22's have deleted out of them, or the 23s for that matter (ford has been on an insane delete spree recently -- they're deleting $5k worth of items out of F150 platinums while they also raised the price $7k). I regularly beat on my 21 trying to get the HVBJB to fail. I'm not at all concerned about getting a nice new version 10 of the part.

I'm not buying a new ford until they have a new CEO. He's just bad.

Around me, there's not a lot of new stock. In some cases they still want more than MSRP. I would have to do some creative tax juggling to qualify for the federal rebates. I could have made it work but the net gain would not have been the full 7500.

I did end up getting a 2022 gt performance for about the equivalent of 17000 off a 23 MSRP. Unfortunately they only had one late 22 model and it was a color (orange) I didn't want. That was actually the color I was most interested in originally when I got my original, but after driving dark matter gray for a while, I really like not sticking out. The new (used) car is white. Needs some minor paint chip repairs but I'm not bothered by it.

I haven't driven it yet, but I'll have to compare it against my non-performance edition, especially on the terrible city roads here...

I'd love to know where all the new ones are. In Las Vegas, they're still adding ADM to vehicles on the lot - although you wouldn't know it by looking at internet pricing. I was so turned off a month or so ago by a dealer trying to add $19k (including no reduction to the 23 window sticker price) that I didn't even bother to ask about the discrepancy between their internet price, the window sticker price, and the price he was giving me. He also told me I could order through them to avoid ADM, but it would be a 12 month wait.
