How long should you expect your Mach-E’s brakes to last? I have a late 2021 Premium RWD extended range. Took it to dealer for 50,000 service and they told me I’m going to need new breaks by my 60,000 service. I thought EV’s brakes were supposed to last near 100,000 miles? I’ve been using 1 pedal drive since I bought the car so didn’t expect the breaks to wear out this fast. Has anyone had their brakes replaced before, if so how much did it cost?

I'm around 86k and haven't had my brakes replaced. I don't use one pedal driving. The last time I went to the dealer at 70k miles they said my brake pads were about half way but I can't remember the exact measurement.

The car uses regenerative braking for both 1 and 2 pedal so that shouldn't matter. It does use the brakes to come to a complete stop, however, so they're always being used a bit. I wouldn't expect them to wear out that fast. I'd want to see proof.

I am at 99,361 miles and friction linings still got plenty of meat left, not even half worn.

However, for a few weeks been feeling a slight twitch at steering wheel at slow speed, been meaning to check tyres for damage, bleb, bulge or something.

However, just bought new thermal imaging camera to help with fault diagnosis and looks like high spot or warp on front brake disc [rotor for the US] could be the cause.

After last 100-mile leg of Wednesday’s 575 mile road trip I photographed the wheels to see where the heat was on each wheel, tyre, brake etc.

Always using OPD and didn’t touch the brakes between a charge at Scotch Corner and home 100 miles later.

Attached illustrates the temperature of the tyre in low 20s of centigrade scale, discs stone cold except for some heat on one section of a front brake disc as if there’s a hotspot there.

Know where to look now after tyre inspection at weekend.

That hot spot is likely from when the hydraulic brakes took over from the electric motors to stop the car At somewhere around 4mph. ??

The place I purchased my tires told me I need new rotors because they were rusty. I explained one pedal drive and turning it off after a rain or car wash would fix that problem.

On my GT at 18000 miles I’m nowhere near needing to have brakes. My last car, Volt, however at 130000 miles still had 1/2 its pads when we sold it to our daughter. She has added 20000 miles and still no sign of needing brake service. It did not have 1PD available.
