There have been a few reports of this part breaking. Bring it to your dealer for warranty replacement. ??

My story: Dealer said it wouldn't be covered under warranty, my fault it broke. I guess I'm a brute. However, when they replaced the windshield with the recalls, I guess they have to remove the overhead console, so using my Ford rewards, I had them order a new overhead console and when the reinstalled with the recall, they put the new on in. Problem solved. Well other than the fact that they broke my windshield when resealing and had to order another. I do wonder how hard it would be to replace yourself, but the part was $183 if memory serves.

Just happened to pop on here and see this. Mine has not been working for a long time. My car is currently at the dealership for the usual recalls. I just texted them to see if they can take a look at it. I will see what they say!

The sunglasses holder is a poor design, and I have had similar problems in a Toyota Camry of the past. My sunglasses got stuck and I gently freed them and now the holder isn’t flush anymore. I would have rather had a mechanical clasp than whatever they have hidden up there.

Of course my dealer is now trying to charge me for something
Ours broke a couple of months ago and the dealer replaced it under warranty with no issue other than it required a in-person visit to verify it was broken and a wait to have it fixed as the part wasn't in stock. I was able to request a mobile repair to have it replaced and it took less than 20 minutes after he arrived at our house. Call the BEV team if you have issues with it being covered under warranty. They will contact the service department and escalate if required.

I only use my sunglasses holder for my regular eyeglasses if I forget the case and want to switch to sunglasses. They’re expensive. I’m really glad I read this thread and I will stop storing my expensive and important eyeglasses in that thing!

Dear God, where do you live, 3 meters from dead center of the sun? ;)
No, greater Seattle! The glass roof gets hot, and I'm guessing my prescription sunglass frames were very susceptible to the heat. Costco managed to mostly wrangle them back into shape, but I'm not taking any more chances. I had them in my Audi for over 5 years, same general idea with a sunglass holder in the roof, and no problems.

I’m down in Kona regularly during the day with my Mach-e. Sunny as usual with daytime temperatures above 90 this time of the year and don’t have that issue (yet anyway). My prescription Rayban sunglasses are in their case in a holder behind the sync screen and a non prescription pair in the car’s glass holder. Both are metal frames though.

It’s definitely something for people to be aware of. Thanks for posting that.

You’d have to park in lava for those metal frames to melt. However, given where you are, that’s a possibility.
