Happened twice now. First time, I had 3 sets of glasses in the holder, and solved it by pulling down hard, popping sense out of one pair of glasses. Put them back in and all was well.
This time it is two pair, owned for 10 months, and have had 2 pair in there like ALL the time. Oh, and they rattle on bumpy roads, so must do something.
Toyed with getting trim tool and opening it up, but it is a warranty item, so next tyre rotation, and I will have it opened up and take the glasses out by service tech.
DID get price on replacement upper console, and it was like $650 list, so did not really want to break it myself. Leave that for highly trained tech.
Searched the Forum, and nobody else has had their glasses stuck in the sunglasses tray? Amazing.
LOVE this car. 20,000 miles in 11 months. Happy wife. 2021 GTPE Grabber Blue.

I believe it is designed to hold one pair...

Yes, Designed for one. Getting trim tool kit later today. Going to give it a go, then get nice cloth glasses bags for each, not overload it again. Why 2 pair? Sunglasses for day, clear for night.

Mine are stuck in there now, seems like they’ve slipped down the back of the holder, seems like a poor design.

In any case: how the hell do you get them out? How is the holder removed? Any links appreciated, thanks.

Got it, thanks to a MME post on Facebook:

“the entire glasses holder and overhead dome light that whole entire plastic piece. If you get your fingers onto the sides of it, start at the front corners and literally pull straight down you will pop it out of its out of its tab holders. The whole entire piece should be able to come down”.

And after much time swearing the the roof, turns out this works perfectly. One comment: ‘the front corners’ are those facing the bonnet. Once you get the knack, is very easy and all drops out simply & without breaking anything. Will be easy to do a second time if needed.

Just keep pressing on it, it will eventually pop open. My sunglasses were stuck for months and I would press the release button everyday. Then one day like magic, it popped open and I got my sunglasses back.

That thing is fragile. Mine broke in less then a year. The latch mechanism got jammed, I tried to open it and the tiny plastic peace popped off.
