New owner of an 2025 Premium in Desert Sand color. Love it. Previous owner of an 2016 Chevy Volt, which was a fine car, best I had up to now.

After going through the manual, I’m unable to determine what the circled alert/message means. I’m sure the forum knows. Thanks in advance!

Distance to destination.

If you haven’t set a destination then the system is predicting where you want to go based on your history. You can start a new route to somewhere and then cancel it to get rid of it.

Aha! Thank you. I use Apple Maps, is it coming from that or the native system?

It can be either one. If you don’t have a route set in Apple Maps and there’s a mysterious distance to destination on the dash then it’s the built in system predicting a destination for you.

I typically use Google maps with android auto, but one day I suddenly started getting direction prompts (with that distance to travel indication). For some reason the native navigation system decided I should go home. Really bizarre. There are definitely some gremlins in that software.

This has happened to us too, ended up disabling it.

I was thinking someone had posted on here that you could turn off the suggested locations on it to fix this problem, but I looked and couldn’t find anything that would do that without just disabling the whole Ford navigation.

The flag is one thing but if gets even more trouble when you get the voice prompts. I even had times when both Android Auto and Ford navigation where giving directions.

To get rid of unwanted notifications and/or voice prompts from the native system, select apps using the multi-dot emblem on the upper left of the main screen, then select navigation. From there you can end current navigation and remove all problems!

Unfortunately, it seems to randomly kick in every other week or so...

Mainly curious not knowing what it was, didn’t particularly bother me but thanks for the info. I’ll give it a shot. 👍

The faster way to cancel the Ford navigation is to tap the voice button on the steering wheel and say “cancel route”.

Note if you tap the voice button you are talking to the Ford Assistant. If you hold it for a bit longer you will be talking to Android Auto/Car Play.

Good suggestion! I prefer to go to the nav to verify that it was the cause--still new to the system as we purchased our new 2024 GT in April and just got our VW Buzz so the back and forth between menus and voice commands is...interesting! And tactile controls, too.

After driving the GT a few times and getting back into the BUZZ, I find myself reaching to the bottom center of the screen for the rotating volume adjustment only to uh duh remember that the BUZZ has a slider in the same location for the same function.

I use the long press (both vehicles) to access CarPlay commands on a regular basis, but find the short press native systems to be very limited on the range of functionality. In time I'll have better learned to which function commands each vehicle's AI does and does not respond and what's the best vocabulary for each.

Ford assistant is very limited. I almost never use it. For instance you can’t say cancel navigation. You can tell it to set the temperature but you can’t tell it to turn off the AC or fan.

IIRC “End navigation” works with Ford Assistant.
