It’s hot now and I’m using the A/C (even letting it run when I go into a store). When I start a trip, soon there is a moldy/musty smell when the A/C comes on. I used to have something like this in the Expedition and service said condensation was not draining properly. Anybody else have this problem in the MME? Any solutions?

Yeah, I’m noticing it too. I’ve had the same on other cars after years of use. There are some products you can get in auto stores and you can change the cabin filter too.

All of my Fords (past and present) have the smell. Unlike other cars, changing air filter did not work.

I haven’t noticed it in the Mach-E yet thankfully. I assume there is an evaporator and drain hose like in ICE cars. I have used a long zip tie to clean out the hose. Then use evaporator Cleaner, which is injected through the drain hose. Let it drain out and run the system for a while to flush out the residue. This product is for residential, but it’s the same chemical that you find in the products for automotive. Just don’t use an entire can this big. Half a can would be enough.

If you use recirculate air mode that can lead to too much moisture in the evaporator and the musty smell. The trick that works is, don’t use air recirculation and about five minutes before you get to your destination turn off the AC to let the evaporator dry out.

FYI it's virtually impossible to reach the A/C drain from underneath the car because it's above the battery pack. I gave up on that.

Bummer. I would investigate how to get a hose to the evaporator from the vent, and inject the cleaning solution that way. It might still flush out crud in the drain hose.
