Things don't start to get interesting until you're below 10v....

Not sure what moron was like "hey, when doing updates, let's make the 12v powered HV battery coolant pump run full bore!"

You need about 25 amps of power to do the updates.
When I did my updates, I had an ammeter clamped on the power supply lead and the highest readings I got was 34 amps and generally stay consistently at around 33.2 amps. GEEZ

What was the time frame? Was it one of the long updates? Did you have headlights / domelights / sync screen on? Climate, etc? With everything off, where in the hell was 33 amps going? Wow

In the past I have seen as high as 42A, but 33 and change sounds normal. ??

No, not all the long updates using the USB drive does not load the power supply at all. Maybe a half a dozen modules. I did write down the modules as I updated them but didn't note when the power supply was getting hit hard. If I had to guess based on my list perhaps, BCM, OBCC, GSM, DCM, but don't quote me on that. No headlights on, yes dome lights and screen but no climate controls. I have to tell you people who don't use at least a 50AMP power supply are playing with fire this thing takes a lot of load, at one point the cooling fans on the power supply started running big time! Pumps run, fans run, funny noises in the back of the vehicle all kinds of noises. You do the USB updates with key on engine on so it uses the high voltage battery (dc to dc convertor) to power the vehicle during the updates. Quite an experience not for the faint of heart!

Hi,
It looks like it's not possible to purchase a 2 days licence anymore? Only 1 day, 1 week?

Just a word of caution about using a charger instead of a regulated power supply. Chargers often tend to cycle themselves as ON then OFF when reaching a particular battery voltage. This can cause saggy/spiky voltages on the line. Some of the components in the modules may get a bit testy when seeing these sags and spikes. I blew up a 40A battery charger on my first attempt, even though I had a full-size car battery in parallel with the charger. Scrambling to put more batteries in parallel and a couple of smaller chargers was no fun doing an APIM update. ??
I am curious to know if it is possible to use this 10A NOCO battery maintainer in supply mode for 12V AGM to install OTA updates with FDRS. Would it work or should be avoided?

Thanks, noted. They also have the Noco 50A, but are way more expensive.
Many of us have seen extended draws of 43A or so. You definitely want at least 40A on your regulated supply. ??

Thanks, noted.
If you're cheap like me, this was the cheapest 55 amp 12v power supply I could find.
It has worked great for several FDRS updates, some taking 3+ hours with no problems.

I bought the 50AMP Noco at AutoZone with 20% discount and financed with PayPal for 0% interest. Hopefully I would be able to maintain batteries and save money instead of buying new batteries in the future.

I am going to be doing the modules update this weekend, I have a long list of updates pending (40+), do you have a suggestion about this process? Are there updates that I should avoid for my 2022 Premium eAWD?

I am planning on starting with modules IPC, GWM, APIM and TCU, in that order.

Do the GWM, APIM, and TCU first. ??
