It's not a "bug" or unique to Ford. Every vehicle I've ever owned with rain sensing wipers does this.
Well, I mean, it isn’t working quite as intended. A “defect”? “shortcoming?” “funny little thing that doesn’t work quite right?”

Mine does it too.

Call it a bug, feature or whatever you want but my wife's Lexus parked right next to it never does it.

And on every one of them the solution, if you care enough about it to make it stop, is to turn the wipers off.

Same here, every car we have owned or rented with rain sensing wipers does this , including high end Germans and Japanese
