Hello - owner of a 2023 Premium Trim,. extended battery, AWD. I've noticed when I use the brkae or accelerator, when the car is in Drive, it makes an odd clicking noise. The noise seems to be coming from the rear/middle of the car. It seems to go away after the car has been in motion for 10-15 minutes.

Any help as to what this could be or how to troubleshoot it?

Its audible in the two video's I posted

If it happens when you brake or accelerate, it could be something loose in your car rolling around.

Maybe check the area under the cover in the rear of the car?

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

definately not anything rolling around. Its related to the pressing of the pedals itself

If that’s the case doesn’t happen when you press the pedals when you’re stopped and in park?

nope. and it only happens with the accelerator, and only after I’ve engaged the brake.

If i’m on the highway and let it slow down then hit the gas - nothing. But if I brake to slow down and hit the gas, then you get that click/thunk. And it seems to be coming from the rear of the car.

Hmm, definitely related to braking.

I wonder if you have the issue some have where brake pad material is stuck to the rotors.

But you’re saying this is at highway speeds?

Still could be something loose rolling around.

You hit the brakes, it rolls forward, hit the gas, and rolls back and “clunk.” If you coast, it doesn’t roll forward.

You should have someone ride back there to narrow down where it’s coming from.

So I took the car in, and the service tech is telling me it's normal. Other than telling him " I don't think it is normal", not sure how to move the ball forward. (Our 2021 Mache does not make this noise, so I don't think its normal..)

With the window open, you can certainly hear it. The "click" about a second into it:

Any advice on what to tell the service people?

The hard part is I’m guessing the car is functioning perfectly fine.

Without being able to pinpoint if something is broken, it’s not possible to “fix” the broken thing.

I would have someone else drive your car and see if you can figure out exactly where the sound is coming from by standing outside of the car.

Definitely a head scratcher.

Could be something like an extra bolt that got “left behind” when they built your car and it’s rolling around inside a panel somewhere. Wouldn’t hurt anything other than just being an annoying sound. ?‍♂

To give closure, I took the car to a different dealership. They isolated the noise to the left rear half shaft, replaced it, and now the noise is gone. Shout out to New Brighton Ford in Minnesota.
