My Ford Service department has replaced the HVBJB on my '23 GTPE. They received a few Engine Coolant Temp warnings while test driving the car. They've re-done the coolant fill and bleed procedure this week, but they are still seeing the warning.

The odd thing is, FordPass is showing the most recent warning as March 25th. Is there something that needs to be done separately to clear this error?

Sometimes they don’t realize there are two coolant reservoirs and they only fill one. Pull the covers and check that both are full.

Both tanks are full, and they have driven the car since the last warning with no further warnings. However, the notification is still on FordPass and apparently still on the dash. I was hoping that there was a reset warnings function (clear codes?) that they missed.

Hi, could you please share your experience dealing with the coolant error? I am in same boat right now and wondering if my dealer has also filled only one reservoir instead of two. How long did it take to get your car back after the repair? And did you receive any other error messages after that?

My GTPE is a June 2023 build, one of the last before the change to the new HVBJB. My failure came at just 4,000 miles.

It turned out that despite running the program to bleed the coolant system of air numerous times, the car still had air in the system. The Ford Field Service Engineer (FSE) shared with the local tech that the GTPE has something different about its plumbing that can lead to this issue. I see you have a Route 1 so this might not apply to you. They didn't share the tip itself, but it allowed the tech to finish bleeding the air.

While the FSE said that this is a known issue with the GTPE, it wasn't in the material available to the service techs at the dealership. My advice, call Ford's Repair Assistance and get them involved. It's no ding to the dealers, I think they need better support than they are getting when it comes to documentation.

I have my car back and have no issues after about 400 miles of hot summer driving.
