Just over one month into owning a 2023 GT/PE I ran the numbers of charging and costs. Thought I would share here as a POI.

-I drove approximately 1900 miles and used 545 khw of electricity

-Based on Dominion estimates (in Virginia), I spent $24.44 on 188 kwh charging at home

-I spent $130 for 357 kwh charging at fast chargers

-I utilized 97 khw of free charging

Total cost was $154.44 or 8 cents per mile. At home is 2.5 cents.

What did you used to spend on gas for the same amount of driving?

The break-even point for fuel at current gas prices would be an ICE car that gets 40-45 miles per gallon.

Gas and electricity prices vary substantially, so the break-even point varies correspondingly.

so the big thing is try to charge at home as much as possible as public charging is pricey.

Definitely. I'm also exploring memberships in ones like Electrify America when I go on a trip.

you'd probably get more bang for the buck with a tesla membership when you travel for the discount. At least in my area EA is actually more expensive than tesla

Tesla adaptor will be here in October, so I havent taken the time to compare yet, but thanks for the heads up. From what I can tell, Tesla will definitely be a preferred charging station.
