I'm weird. After the most recent reapplication of the 21B36 update my PAAK works first push. It used to take 2 after sitting overnight. Now it takes one. It does have a half second delay, but only one push. I always have a phone with me so it is worth it to carry no keys. I have therefore been fighting with PAAK for the entire 2 years of ownership. Here's hoping this is "the new normal".
immediately since the update my door now responds more quickly

None of these vehicles with PAAK work perfectly. Just the other day, after the update, it unlocked and opened the door for me. Then it started right up, but gave me the message "Key Not Detected". The car was running.

I have a Rivian and it is usually slow to unlock the doors after approaching it, worse than the MME. I have also had it unlock for me, but when trying to start it, get a "Present Key to Start" message.

About a month ago I saw a guy in a parking lot trying to open the rear hatch on his Tesla. He walked up and it would not open for him. He then pulls his phone out of his pocket and has to hold it against the hatch for several seconds for it to open.

Welcome to the wonderful world of high tech.

I've been wrestling with getting PAAK working since I got my vehicle. Sometimes it's connected, most times it isn't. Seems like after yesterday's 21B36 update is has consistently decided to no longer work at all. I always carry my FOB, and since PAAK is so unreliable, I've gotten used to just popping the frunk and trunk from the vehicle/FOB. Is there even any reason to keep fighting with it under those conditions? Is there any other use for PAAK other than not having to have your FOB with you?
What phone are you using? Some phones definitely work better than others.

Funny enough, once I switched vehicles, PAAK worked perfectly, connected instantly, and has been rock solid. This is the same phone and FordPass as the last vehicle that wouldn't work at all.
