Our car has started making painfully loud static sounds on startup. It doesn’t happen every time, and turning the car on and off doesn’t seem to fix it. The only option seems to be waiting it out.

I assumed the problem was a low 12v battery, but the car did it again this morning after being on the charger all night. Ford’s website reported that the 12v was at 91% right after it happened, so it seems unlikely that the battery is the culprit. Does anyone know of any other possible causes?

It doesn’t do it often enough to expect the dealership to successfully reproduce it, but it is happening often enough to be really annoying.

Next time it happens, take a recording and post it on here.
