I leased a 2023 Mach-E premium last December, coming up on one year. Yesterday I went to a drive-through car wash so I removed the two magnets (kids' colleges) so I wouldn't lose them. The back hatch is fiberglass and magnets don't work there, so I stick them to rear side quarter panels, one on each side. When I got home I went to reattach the magnets and saw this, right where one of them was. It wasn't like this when I removed it, must have happened at the car wash? Has anyone seen anything like this before? Any idea what caused it?

It looks like there are a lot of small imperfections in the paint. Hard to tell about the specific area where the paint appears to be peeled, but there may have been a perforation big enough there for the pressure of the spray to have lifted the paint. ??

My guess is moisture trapped under the sticker caused the break down of the cheap paint they put on our cars these days.

Check my last post coincidentally earlier today. One of my '23 MME Premium's several same-color Vapor Blue Metallic paint "clumping"/"overspray(?)" imperfections is in that exact spot! Right rear fender a few inches up over the wheel. (No issues on the left rear fender). Another one is on my driver's-side door, an inch or so long, in the middle right under the window.... Now while I'm still wondering if this issue is peculiar to the color or to the metallic flecks or to poor application, I'm feeling more certain this is poor "Quality [is Job #1] control.

That's crazy. I was thinking it's a QC issue. I'm just wondering if I'm going to get dinged by Ford since it's a lease, are they going to claim I shouldn't have put a magnet there, if that could have contributed to the issue, am I going to have to get it repaired at a body shop, etc. Curious how this is going to play out.

Magnetic field had nothing to do with it. Don't mention it.
Had to be some type of contamantion on primer to cause paint to pop.

Ford paint is notorious for being cheap *(Infinite Blue probably the worst of the worst, soon after discontinued).
w/o PPF and ceramics disaster is inevitable, any wash method.
any add on is permanent - do not even think of removal.

I noticed two smallish rock chip looking dings on the hood, which went down to the metal (could see that the paint is really thin as such) in my vapor blue after only 700 miles, each about 2mm in diameter. I had never driven the car on the highway up until that point. I then had PPF applied to the hood and front fenders. No issues since, but the car has only 1200 miles on it.
