Park/Reverse Shift Glitch?

I usually avoid the mess of shitting into park ? ?

I require a restroom in the park in that case.

My habit is to set the parking brake first thing then either select P, open the door, or turn off the vehicle.

Years of pulling boats & campers; still follow the same process whether towing or not.

Here's a video of the issue - am I the only one who is experiencing this? There have been a few near disasters where I thought I was in Park and began rolling backwards.

Was the gear shifter (GSM) software ever updated on your car? If not then I would have that done first. If it still happens, then replace the shift knob.

Thanks, I have received regular OTAs after they resumed earlier this year, and have taken in for service checks every 10k miles. Is there an easy way to know if GSM was updated? Do you think a knob replacement would be under warranty?
