FordPass (both current version and the Beta version on my Samsung S24) show a notification badge. Darned if I can figure out why. There are no alerts, messages, etc. I tried clearing the cache memory for the app and restarting the phone (only one version "FordPass" is shown in my list of apps). Ta da! Notification badge is gone - until I open the app again. I also did an uninstall and reinstall which I thought fixed the problem. However, I had to redo PAAK, Bluetooth, etc. and once I was finished with all that, the damn notification badge was back. Somewhere deep in the bowels of this phone that phantom badge is lurking, just waiting to annoy me. I'm sure it's a case of some errant electrons following the path of greatest resistance, but I'd like to set them on the straight and narrow path.

Anyone seen anything similar? Know how to make it go away for good?

Cheers,
Bill

I wonder if turning notifications off for the app, wait a bit, then turning them back on would cause it to clear? Since you've actually deleted the app and reinstalled it, I doubt it, but seems like a quick test.

It's probably because of paak, it has constant notification 'connecting to car',. If that notification is up it will trigger the dot.
You should be able to edit the notification optiona to tell it not to show the dot for that notification. That's what I did

That sounds like a real possibility. Can you explain how you did that? I looked in the notification settings in both the current and beta versions, plus the app notification settings in Android, and I can't find any individual setting for PAAK. I musst be missing it somewhere...

You don't do this from in the Ford Pass app. I'm not too familiar with Samsung phones but the following should work.

On most Android phones it's called the 'App Info' screen. Go to the screen that allows you to kill the Ford Pass app or clear its storage. There should be a option for Notifications, go into that and you should see the 2 types of notifications. There should also be an option for showing 'notification badge', turn that off and back out.

Thanks - I was looking in the generic "Notifications" setting in Android, but I found what you're describing in the "Apps/FordPass" settings. Silly of me to think that all notification settings would be in the same place. Interestingly, when the released version of FordPass installed automatically last night the badge went away. Until I opened the app, and then it came back.

Anyway, the phantom badge is now gone. I still have home screen and pop-up notifications enabled, so I won't miss anything.

Cheers,
Bill
