Has anyone else had this problem with the Pre-Collision Alarm system.
My wife rear-ended someone about a week ago while making a right turn at about 5-10 miles per hour. The driver in front of her stopped unexpectedly. As she was getting to close to his Silverado, the “Pre-Collision Alarm” flashed on the dashboard and my wife jammed on the brake pedal… and here is the problem…the brake pedal pulsed slowly but failed to slow the car down at all! Basically, the brake pedal became non-functional. If corse we hit the truck at a low speed. Has anyone had a similar experience?
Per dealer computer, there are no recorded faults after the accident.
Is this a software or sensor issue?

No one here can give you any insight, except that if this was an issue, the NHTSA would be all over it. File a report if you think it was the car, and not your wife's issue.

Something seems off. If she got pre-collision assist why didn't AEB kick in?

Like Rick said, if you believe your wife's story then I would file a complaint with the NHTSA. Brake failure is a serious thing. Likewise, when people are panicking they sometimes make mistakes.

I was driving a company vehicle (Chevy 1500) when I was 17 and had brake failure due to a faulty ABS valve. Almost no one believed me, but the company filed a complaint, Chevy took the truck and released a finding almost 1 year later clearing me, which allowed me to get it removed from my record. So, I know what it's like to not be believed, but I was very certain because I had enough time to put on the emergency brake and lessen the impact.

I noted something similar this morning when the nanny went off. Usually it's being overprotective and no correction is actually needed. This morning had a bit of a pucker factor because everything was flashing red, but the car didn't respond to brakes the way I expected. I noted it, but passed it off as confusion of the moment (kids were talking, car in front did actually stop short, etc). Now, it's an element I will pay attention to in the future, just to see. It is, unfortunately, hard to intentionally provoke it to test.
