Today was not a good day for me. My last long distance trip was on 10/22/22 with no issues charging. Today, I started out on an trip with planned stops. Lets just say, I did not make my destination. I stopped at a planned ChargePoint facility to only find out it was under construction, nothing available. (FYI this is Exit 101 on I-75 in Naples). After several try's at lower rated charing facility, I could not get the EV and the ChargePoints to connect through the Blue Oval Network. I tried even using the ChargePoint app and kept getting the RED Ring indicator and an error on the Ford App saying Charger Fault. Need less to say, I am stuck in Fort Myers on a 6kva free charger station overnight. Fingers crossed I will get out of here tomorrow. Business trip is a wash though, bummer.

I have called Ford App for support to no resolve, never got through to ChargePoint. Tomorrow, I will try Electrify America and see if there is an issue there....I am at my wits end on this one?

All software is up to date.

Anyone else experience this?

  1. Check PlugShare reviews before leaving on a trip. Avoid any stations with issues reported.
  2. Hopefully you saw this, otherwise use the ChargePoint app:
Ford Mustang Mach-E Public Charging Fault Errors AF98D75B-695C-492E-9F8E-25492B9E05F2
  3. Remember to plug in fully. Partially inserted plugs generate charge faults.

Thanks I did all this. Just came from my Ford Dealership and they have indicated that there is a code update for the charging module that is not just a regular update. This module will have to be reflashed manually to accept off Blue Oval chargers. I tried not just ChargePoint, but also GreenSlots and FPLvolutions. All with the same error.

So I guess you haven’t been getting OTA updates then? The OBCC update was sent out to everyone already so the dealer might need to look into why you didn’t get it.

If you use PlugShare, you can see what locations aren't functioning, or having issues. Then you have much less chance for surprises.

I drove home to Boca from Tampa thru Naples on Sunday.

I charged up at an EA station in Port Charlotte and took a couple of try‘s before charger worked, turned out to be free electricity.

I know the EA station in Naples is closed due to installing new equipment. Not a great idea during a holiday weekend.

there was a good FPL station (according to PlugShare) off of 75 in Ft Myers. I don’t think it showed up in the Ford GPS system.

I should have used that FPL station as I was running out of juice on alligator alley (not pleasant). I had to slow down to 65 to conserve and then charge up one last time before getting home. At that last EA station it took 4 tries before charge started. Kept faulting. Turns out it was EA not the MME.

poor planning on my part (wife had minor panic attack when warning came on) not recognizing how much speed reduces mileage. Speed limits here in Florida higher than NY.

live and learn.

I stopped at the Gainesville, fl, EA charging station and when i plugged in it demanded i pick a plan. This has not been the case before, My BOCN just let it start charging. Ended up paying for a month of plan, $.042 a kwhr and they required i put an amount of money in the account before it would start> Why do they do that? They are going to charge the card why do they need my money before i buy. Now i have some number of dollars sitting in EA's account instead of mine. This also means that i didnt get my complimentary kwhrs from Ford but hopefully they will still be there.
