I’ll take your word for it - I’ve never pulled a boat
Boat trailers, like mine (23ft/5k lb), are surge brakes (hydraulic) not electric. Not a good idea to dip electric actuators in water.

I have. 14’ sunfish and a Ride right trailer that also holds the dolly. I doubt the whole thing even hits 300 pounds. I know of another Mach E owner that tows his sunfish to area regattas. Often 2-3 days travel away. I will make sure to get something to strengthen the rails before adding a hitch and towing.

I know this thread is a little old, I didn’t have a chance to speak to the owner in this picture. I’ve never seen EV pulling a trailer and this was charging today. It’s a pretty big trailer. I’m curious what that little gear thing is by the tire?

Looks like a motor to turn the wheels, possibly to move the trailer under its own power. Like maybe you could unhook it and back it into a spot.

I was thinking that and then I thought maybe it was like an assist while going uphill or something. Anyways, thanks, that’s a pretty big trailer. A lot of Mustangs there today too more than I’ve ever seen. There was four, and they’re all complaint was I wish I would’ve got the extended battery lol

That is a seriously overloaded hitch.

I have these "Motor Movers" on my caravan which I tow with my 2025 Mitsubishi Triton VRX ute. They are brilliant for manouvering the caravan using its battery power when not connected to the ute. I don't tow with my 2023 MME GT PE as it is only rated to tow 750kgs in New Zealand. In Europe they are rated to tow 1500kgs but the range drops hugely to about half of what my Mitsubishi Triton does when towing my 1500KG caravan.

You need to know the weight. We have a 20' boat that is about 5,000 pounds on the trailer with a 600 pound tongue weight. It's definitely on the heavy side. No way I would even try to hitch it up to the Mach-E. I do tow a trailer at least once a week with the Mach-E -- our trash/recycle cans are on a small trailer with a total weight around 250 to 350 pounds, depending on how much trash we have in a given week. Tongue weight is in the 20-40 pound range, and we tow it for 1/4 mile each way. Obviously, the Mach-E doesn't even notice this load. I could tow it behind a bicycle if there wasn't such a steep hill.
