Thanks for the review. I am still disappointed with the GT PE acceleration.

GT PE = 480 HP 634 LB.-FT. 5,011 lbs
12.7 @ 101 mph in the 1/4 mile

vs

Y Perf = 450 HP 471 LB.-FT. 4,555 lbs
12.1 flat @ 113 mph in the 1/4 mile

vs

Y LR = 351 HP 389 LB.-FT. 4,555 lbs
12.4 flat @ 115 mph in the 1/4 mile
At this point, you're going into the purchase eyes wide open. You either accept that the GTPE falls flat on its face above 70 or you buy something else.

For me, it has decent, i.e. (acceptable, not not great) acceleration above 70. I can live with that. Not happy, but I'm at peace with it.

Real world example. When I'm merging, I look at the Speedo and sometimes I crack 100 in the MY. In the MME, I'm about 85.

Agreed on knowing up front. That said, I want Ford to unlock some more acceleration past 5 seconds or at least offer a boost upgrade similar to what Tesla did. I'm not holding my breath though.

Why does it matter if you aren’t buying a GT?

For me it matters, and I’m still hopeful.

Two reasons.
-I am considering changing to a GT to get it quicker since they are prioritized over Premiums.
-My mom ordered a GT.

Additional not really a reason but related.
-My daughter's God mom just got a 2022 Model Y Performance.

In the end everything points to keeping the Premium though. Wife wants the panoroof which ends up being $3400 additional on a GT with it being lumped in with "Ford Co-Pilot360™ Active 2.0 and 360-Degree Camera ". Ends up almost $8k more than the PR AWD ER.

Well we have to be faster than the godmother!

Have you had a chance to drive a GT yet?

It’s way faster than a Premium.

I see what you’re getting at, but am a little confused by your reasoning at this point (and I will admit, it’s not an easy decision).

So you would want a GT if they fixed the 5 seconds, but if not want a premium, right?

This tells me that you want one that’s ridiculously fast, and not just crazy fast. And if you can’t get ridiculous fast, you’ll settle for just “fast.”

It may help to watch some of those GTPE vs C8 corvette or GTPE vs GT500 videos again to see how crazy fast we are off the line.

Yes, we get beat by 80 mph, but again, think of what we are racing. Both of those are 10 second 1/4 mile cars!! That’s super car territory. To be even worthy of a race in a Ford SUV says a lot.

Thanks. That does help. A lot of people (including me) get hyper focused on how the Mach E does against Tesla and we forget how well it does against the other 99% of vehicles on the road.

Last comment about the Premium. This will be my wife's daily driver. I already had to convince her to get AWD so we could get the extra power.

What helped me get over trying to beat a model YP was watching all the drag videos of the cars it embarrasses. Lots of real legit sports cars that I’d still be happy to drive.

There will always be something faster, only you can decide what’s fast enough.

What really sealed the deal for me was the test drive. My last car wasn’t slow (Chevy SS with a tune ran mid 12s at 111 mph). GTPE is more fun to drive.

Thanks for a nice cross review. The display car bugs me to, but at night it is black, so then it matches my black MME:)

The Ford interface has never been great in years. My Ram and Dodge are way better and we prefer for sure. The phone app is a joke and not useful for sure, glad I got a 2nd Fob.
You can set the display color as light, auto or dark. Yours is in "auto". Set it to "dark" and it will always be dark...with less power used, and your display will last longer.

I ordered my GTPE on 10/21/21..............Confirmed from Ford on 10/28/21 ...Now it's on its' way saying it has shipped and expected delivery date of 4/8 to 4/14/22 as of last week. However, since last week, they have removed the dates and shows it has shipped.....Wonder if it will come earlier....nevertheless, I can't wait.....

With that said, I test drove the MME GT before I placed my order for the GTPE and noticed the 5 second drop off right away......I have been reading about it on this forum ever since......Still going thru with the purchase and maybe give it to my wife ....

This past weekend.....I have been driving the Tesla Model 3- Dual motor and Boy, it has excellent Power every time I need it in Seattle traffic.....Model Y may be a bit faster.....
I also noticed that during my 2 days of driving the 3, I only floored it a few times
so the 5 seconds of burst may not be a big deal....

Perhaps the F150 Lightning does not have the 5 second limiter?

I’m also thinking about a GTPE if I can get it sooner. I’m worried about not getting my full $7500 tax credit on the Premium if it goes into the last quarter of 22. If I get half, then the price difference is only 4k or so for the GTPE. Help?‍?

F150 Lightning will be slow compared to the GT. Even a regular ER AWD will beat it.

My next door neighbor had a dual motor Model 3 (no boost). My GTPE is definitely faster.

If you want an SUV faster than a model Y performance, gotta spend about $300,000. Because it beat everyone else that tried. (Even the 700hp Trackhawk). Everything in the vicinity is stupid fast.

So you are thinking the GTPE will always have the 5 second limiter?
That is the only reason the MY beat it in the Edmunds's test

I don’t. I’m still hopeful they’ll eliminate it.

But even without the limit, I’m betting we will still be a 1/10th or two behind the Y performance.

We beat it from the launch due to more torque, but their 500 lb weight advantage kicks in at higher speeds.

Since you already have the GTPE, have u raced the Y yet?
My neighbor has a dual motor MY. He wants to race once I get my GTPE...Wonder if that is the performance model....

No, all the Y around here are non-performance and driven by soccer moms.

If your neighbors is a performance, there is a red line under “dual motor” on the back.

Launch will be a drivers race either way. Both are very fast. Even in the 1/4 mile it’s only a few tenths. That can be the difference in reaction time, but the YP is definitely faster.

We crush them both in handling, braking and ride quality.

Plus the “punch in the gut” acceleration around 30 mph will be greater in the GTPE (634 lb feet will do that vs their 450).
