When I pulled down the black plastic piece above the rearview mirror to install my FitcamX dash cam, the rain sensor just dropped down, as the bracket was somehow not holding it up properly. Anyhow, I put it back into place and installed the dash cam and all seems well, but I now notice the sensor appears to have a little bit of an air bubble where it sits against the windshield. I know there's a soft clear pad that the sensor pushes against; on my vehicle it appears the pad is stuck to the windshield and not the sensor itself.

My wipers seem to work though they are not as sensitive as I would prefer, even on the most sensitive setting. Any suggestions for how to get it flush again? I've tried re-seating it and pressing it up against the windshield and the bracket is secure, but this is about the best I can get it (see below):

You’ll have to take the sensor out and pour a new gel lens with a kit. Fully remove the old gel first.

Sensor must be perfectly level when you do the pour.

Marcy Universal Auto Windshield Rain Sensor (Lens) 2 Part Gel Kit See Details https://a.co/d/2lk3sQx

If you’re not comfortable doing this, then call a windshield tech or buy a new sensor, which comes with precast gel lens.

Do not touch the gel with your fingers because that can prevent it from sticking.

Thanks - that makes sense. I will have to consider whether I just want to buy a new sensor for $35 or the kit. I also noticed that there are adhesive gel pads available to buy, do you know if that would also work?

Poured is always going to be a perfect fit vs. something that may or may not fit right. Placing the gel on the sensor without touching or damaging it can also be tricky.
