Personally, I would never park my car with the windows even part down. I do however, start the car when I'm to drive off, thereby activating the A/C some five minutes before driving off.
Even on 90+ days? Even with my sun shade in the windshield my car gets insanely hot inside if I don't keep the windows cracked when parked. But that might be partially due to having black on black paint and interior.

Why does it matter if it gets hot inside when nobody's in it?

I'm always amazed when I'm at work, it starts to rain, and droves of people run outside to close their windows. It seems so much easier to just never leave them open.

Well, here in Sweden, hot-hot days are far & few between, BUT during my six years in Saudi Arabia nobody would ever leave their windows open.. (Just as they would never wear shorts, even when 47- 50 C in the shade, but that's another subject..)

The vent fans in my RV do this. It’s very complicated using a resistive sensor. NO WAY it could ever be used in an automotive scenario. RV’s are way too advanced. I mean, they are up there, like space travel type advanced. rolls eyes

I do it just to avoid any possible cracking / damage to plastics from excessive heat, not for comfort when I get in. Trying to avoid having a 140 degree oven baking everything inside. Maybe I'm worried about nothing in terms of damage but just something I've always done.

Thatā€˜s a thing in cars? I wonder why all the people who leave their windows closed don’t have a cracked dash.

Definitely a thing in hot climates, yes. Sun and heat are brutal on plastics. Just do a search for cracked dashboard. Used to be more common I'll admit but anytime you're exposing plastics to extreme swings in temp the expansion and contraction will eventually effect them making them more brittle. I guess I just like to take preemptive measures to care of the interior of my car as much as the exterior.
