I wonder if the rain sensor for the windshield wipers could be developed such that if a person were to park their MME on a hot day, leaving the windows down, but an unexpected pop-up rain storm developed, the MME would recognize both the rain on the windshield and the windows down condition, and automatically close the windows to avoid a wet interior.

Asking for a friend…

Not a bad idea. Don’t know how much power the camera draws.

First, they’d have to make it so the rain sensor is on all the time, which means that other modules would have to stay on as well, which would introduce vampire drain. Itā€˜s not going to happen with the current architecture.

Yes, that certainly could be developed.

It's not exactly the kind of breakthrough that will set the entire auto industry on its ear. But sure, could be done.

Personally, I would never park my car with the windows even part down. I do however, start the car when I'm to drive off, thereby activating the A/C some five minutes before driving off.

Now that would be putting a lot of faith in that kinda tech. Honestly, I would never have that kind of confidence.

Well then, what features of the mach-e DO you have confidence in ? For me, it has worked flawlessly winter & summer.

we already know a single white LED is a significant drain on the 8 AAA cells that make up the current battery ?

(Obligatory troll post): YEA, I READ THAT TESLA HAS HAD THIS KIND OF TECH FOR FIVE YEARS, WHAT'S WRONG WITH FORD? THEY REALLY SHOULD NOT BE IN THE CAR BUSINESS AT ALL!

well, and in addition the next step would be, when the rain shower is over the windows re-open to where they have been before.
o_O
even if the first step comes via OTA the 12V battery is just too weak to cover the power required by the sensor and the window motor.

it is not vampire drain. most of new roadsters have this system. If rain starts, sensors react and will close the roof.
