Anyone else started getting random Collision Alerts when the car in front of you at a safe distance is turning right? And I don't mean just an annoying beep but a screaming warning sound that flashes a giant red warning on the dash like I'm about to hit someone. Which I'm not but because it happens randomly it's so startling that I'm afraid just the startle I get from it happening is going to cause an accident. I'm grateful the car doesn't slam on breaks for no apparent reason but honestly given the degree of the alarm, I'm surprised it doesn't and that makes me worry that the safety system isn't really working right.

You can go in and adjust the sensitivity. That does make it go off less frequently (for left turning cars too).

Yeah, this is pretty common with these types of systems, same thing happens with my other vehicles, non-Ford as well. It's just letting you know the speed you are traveling without any intervention, there may be a collision. This isn't AI or anything, it's just the way it detects your speed and what's in front of you, you get these kinds of warnings. There are also different stages of this warning, the one you see most often will not apply the brakes unless a crash is imminent, it would be many seconds of non-intervention for this to happen or a car not completing its turn right, like it would be the sort of situation where it would actually help you.

100%... I generally think this is the system telling you that the distance you think is safe really isn’t safe in reality. I’ve seen my fair share of people who think they are fine following ā€œa safe distanceā€ but at the speed they are going compared to the other vehicle it really isn’t.

Yes. It’s doing what it’s supposed to do. It can’t tell the car you’re coming up on is moving out of the way by the time you get there.
