I have been following the Mach E Forum since it's beginning and shortly after I ordered my Mach E in early January 2020. I have found MANY helpful hints and valuable information over the past several months. I have not posted anything, until now. I have found the Forum valuable and I wanted to post a "heads up" to Forum Members. I , in following the Forum, learned that some Mach E owners had experienced "thudding" or unusual noise, particularly when braking. I experienced this situation the first few days of July. After reading the forum I came to the conclusion that a braking regimen could solve the problem ( I live in Florida in a high humidity/damp environment and thought the pad were sticking together or rust had formed, etc.). The suggested braking did not solve the problem and I luckily took my Mach E to the dealer. After one day and several brake/suspension inspections on the lift the dealership service department could not find the problem, but heard the noise when they drove the vehicle. I was asked to leave the vehicle and Ford was going to be consulted (This was July 8th). Two weeks later Ford and the dealership communicated that the problem was the rear "drive component". Ford assigned a case manager who communicated regularly (as did the dealership service dept.). The parts were not available and were ordered. The hoped for delivery and repair was the end of August. The rear drive unit arrived early and the repairs were concluded on August 11th. The work order stated that in addition to the rear drive unit being replaced, along with various parts, the rear drive unit coolant had metal (filings?) in the original coolant. The Ford case manger and the dealership service dept. did a good job. Just a "heads up" to those who experience the "noise" when braking.....it may be something else.
