the bottom pair of pictures is indicating that the release button shouldn't be pressed in if you're in the seat - it should be popped up, indicating the back is "clicked" in place.

If nothing else works, why not just put some sort of sticker over it... You just need to find one that is that exact size...

If it annoys me when I (finally!) get mine this week I think I'll just mask around it and spray paint the sticker a close match to the carpet...

A keyfob would fit perfectly there. Too bad we didn't get spares.

Better question how could you possible know how to operate a seatbelt without the sticker? The government or Ford corporate lawyers seem to think you can't, hence the sticker. LOL ?

I agree that a handheld clothes steamer and maybe a stiff bristle hair brush like this may do the trick?

I tried a couple of different wire-bristle brushes and they just about restored the loft.
