All -

The balloon on my Ford Options plan is coming up soon and I am thinking of returning my Mach E in lieu of refinancing / paying down the balloon. I installed a hitch on my car - it has only been used for a bike rack and a ski rack. Never towed anything ever.

Have others on an option plan returned their Mach E with the hitch? Did you take it off? Any other advice on the topic from anyone?

Thanks so much

Haven't done any of this, but I would probably take it off and sell the hitch. Doubt the dealership would notice unless you cut the bumper...

cutting the bumper was part of the hitch install. None of the hitches work otherwise.

I was wondering the same thing. I have a regular ford lease, but still 2 years to go.

What brand hitch did you install, and how did you like it?

I'm not the OP, but I installed an EcoHitch. Got free installation from the manufacturer as they were displaying in the Electrify Expo and they are not far away. I only use it for a bike rack, and that's been fine with two e-bikes. However, the hitch is very low and the rack totally blocks all the rear sensors. Backing up gives you loud warning and frequently slams on the brakes! But of the two EVs we have, we know Kia would be less forgiving on their lease - unless you get their tow package.

I figured as much but didn't want to assume. How visible would the cut be if you removed the hitch? If visible without looking under the bumper, I'd be inclined to leave the hitch installed. If not visible, I'd remove it.
