Selling the Mach-E or transfer reservation.

I'm sure this isn't a unique situation but here it goes:

In the beginning of March I ordered a Mach-E Premium AWD ER - Black. It's initial delivery date was 4/15, and I needed a car before 5/15. I figured a month of additional time was enough. Sadly, it wasn't. In mid-May I ended up purchasing a 2021 Ford Ranger (yes I realize the vast difference in use cases for these two vehicles), and the dealer applied my $500 Mach-E reservation to my purchase. Last month, I received an email that my Mach-E was in production and today I received an email indicating that it would be delivered between 10/7 and 10/13. (5 months late, freaking reliance on a small number of chip manufacturers).

My question(s) is this, should I go ahead with the purchase of the Mach-E and resell it or is there a way I can transfer my reservation to someone else? Is there a market for this?

I really love the Mach-E, but am not going to be able to purchase and keep it, since the value of my Ranger has dropped and the other money I had for the purchase went to replacing the roof on my house.

Who told you that a March order would be delivered by 4/15? If it was the dealer, they were either naive or lying because that was never going to happen.

If you buy the car with the intent to resell it, you technically wouldn't qualify for the tax credit, so I wouldn't bother. I don't think there's a way to transfer the reservation either, so if you don't want the car, just walk away and let the dealer sell it to someone else.

Like Tso said....where did you figure it would only take one month to get in a vehicle when Ford's own website has shown an extremely long lead time all year? Just don't claim it and the dealer will be more than happy to sell it to someone else.
