Hi all,

The one main annoying factor of my Mach E is currently the lack of a passthrough for ski events. We like to drive to the mountains as a group of 4 and therefore it would be nice to fit our Skis easily into the trunk without any exterior box (range loss).

Did anyone of you succeed with an aftermarket install? Any clever idea to e.g. re-use covers from another Ford Model?

I saw some Videos of Teslas where people have done cut-outs and covered it with 3rd party sets to realize a factory like look. This is what I have in mind.

I wonder if you could do some kind of 3-d printed assembly and door behind the rear armrest? You would want something to keep the skis from cutting the armrest. I live in a more surf-oriented area and a surfboard is not going to fit in a pass through.

Yep that's the most common way that I saw on Youtube. You cut a hole into the backseat from the trunk with the armrest opened and mount a plastic spare part e.g. From a Ford Kuga (?) to protect the cutout and make it good-looking.

It's quite similar to a cat door I think ?

If I recall it correctly, the Tesla guys were doing this with a spare part from BMW 3 series or so because you'll want it to fit to the hole of the armrest.

For the record, we've had luck putting the 1/3 seat down and squeezing two passengers into the other 2/3. I agree a ski pass-through would be better.

When we have four people in the car we are usually just "commuting" from the cabin to the hill, only half an hour drive or so.

I'm considering buying the rack bars. So far we've kept our 2005 4Runner which is a bigger vehicle and has external bars/rack, but if we ever ditch the 4Runner we'll definitely get more serious about a 4-passenger longer-distance ski vacation.
