So we always talk about range, but I haven't seen a thread that addresses how quickly SOC is depleted sitting in traffic with the climate control/radio/etc on. At "idle" if you will. PHX traffic is a lot of 'slow and go' during rush hour. If you head to Sedona or Flagstaff on the weekend and there's a wreck on I-17 you could be parked for an hour or more. How big a range hit does this translate to?

The hit is rather low unless you need to run the climate control on high for either heat or AC. Unlike an ICE, there is no cost for idling, only running accessories.

In PHX there will definitely be A/C usage. ?

For about 8 month out of the year. On the plus side, the hit for A/C is probably less than heating, and in Phoenix heated seats and wheel eliminate the need for heating most of the "winter".

Nothing is better for range in a BEV than heavy traffic. Generally speaking you're moving, just very slowly. Given that the best range likely comes between speeds of 25-30 MPH, "stop and go" puts you in a sweet spot as far as range is concerned.
