State safety inspection

It's finally time to renew my registration. I know we don't have to get the emission inspection obviously, but do you know what they do for our cars for safety inspection in Texas? I'm seeing conflicting things on the internet. Trying to see if I can get away with just going through a quick random place instead of the dealership. I guess my main concern is if they need to lift the car or not since we have those tricky jack points.

I haven’t done it yet, but personally I’d feel more comfortable going to the dealership. However, I’m not away of the need to lift the car for these inspections. I will warn you though, I’ve heard of several people going to places that charge them for the emissions test as well and it’s difficult to get your refund if you argue with them on it.

When the tie comes for me I'll probably go to a dealership, just to be safe.

I've just gone to the rapid check place down the street from me. They just check the basics, lights/mirrors/etc. 3-5 minutes. I paid like $8.

Just got it done at Kwik Kar on Shepherd. Was only $7 took like 10 minutes and didn't jack up the car.
