I am trying to find a way to safely remove the protective tape residue that covered the outside pillars. I know that area is very prone to scratching

any suggestions?

you can see the vertical line where it edge of the tape used to be

Thanks

I would start with Alcohol and microfiber cloth and see if that works first. Alcohol is pretty mild and shouldnt harm the plastic.

Yeah, use rubbing alcohol and something very soft.

To remove tape residue, I have found that dabbing the residue with the sticky side of a new piece of tape to almost always be effective, and it does not involve any rubbing at all. I would start with tacky green masking tape and transition to duct tape if more tack is needed. The tack of the offending residue bonds to the new adhesive and pulls off.

Our GT had this and also some residue around the shark fin. I use an alcohol based cleaner made by "Wurth" that we used all the time in the Motorcycle repair business that will not discolor plastics and is easy on painted surfaces. Now we are in the process of claying the whole vehicle as there is fallout or overspray all over the vehicle mainly horizontal surfaces. When I worked at a GM Dealership from 1978-2000, we had Detailers on staff that took care of all this on every new car. Seems most Dealerships these days just have someone who peels off all the protective material and then give it a quick wash.
