I purchased a 2023 MachE in late February 2024.
The sales guy said I’d be eligible for a tax credit. Ford apparently sent out a notification (a couple of months before I purchased) to all dealers letting them know that these cars would NOT be tax credit eligible. I was lied to and bought my car because I was enticed by the $7,500 tax credit.
Now that I have filed my 2024 taxes & found out that I am not going to get the tax credit, I contacted the Lakeland Ford Dealership manager & he said there’s nothing he can do.
Did anyone else have this issue?
Thanks!

The Mach-E lost 1/2 of the tax credit on 4/18/23. It lost the remaining 1/2 on 12/31/23. It's your responsibility to know your tax eligibility, not the dealerships.

This information was widely available, including statements issued by Ford to the public.

If you have in writing on your paperwork that you qualify for all, or part of the tax credit, get a lawyer. if not, you're SOL.

Where I bought the Mach e they gave me $7500 off the SUV to offset the fact that I wouldn't be getting a tax break so it ended up being fine, at least they were upfront with me.

Sorry that this happened to you but, in defense of the sales person it could have been an honest mistake on his part. At the end of the day your tax liabilities are your responsibility and it is incumbent on you to obtain sound financial information and advice as to any purchases or sales you make.
