Just got back from my 800 mile trip up north. Every single charger (Tesla or non-Tesla) I stopped at surprisingly worked flawlessly. I should have known I was due for an issue, but I gleefully ran down to 5% charge knowing my old reliable Electrify America charger in Columbia had never let me down.
So of course on arrival, 2 of the stalls were completely dark (screens off) and one had "charger offline: network error" which left me with a single charger to try. That quickly resulted in the expected error:
So I'm now at 4% charge and from previous travels know I'm at least 10 miles from the next useful charger in Columbia. With high hopes, I clicked the "Public Charging" app and like a warm hug I saw "Tesla - Harbison Boulevard (Adapter Required)" pop up LESS THAN 1/4 MILE AWAY.
I quickly made the short drive to a 14 stall mega supercharger that welcomed me with open arms: https://maps.app.goo.gl/9mnsJBYfPruCcPPA7
I'm positive I'd have been stuck in Columbia on a slow 240v charger or worse waiting for Ford to come tow me to the nearest DC fast charger if it wasn't for the newly available Tesla supercharger location. So now I can say the free Tesla adapter from Ford has saved me at least 2 hours of my life.
Also of note: Tesla picked a PERFECT location for this supercharger. It's right next to an electrical substation. If you're ever in Columbia I highly recommend stopping by (also a Chik-Fil-A right next to it)
