Or, you just have to buy a bigger phone until it fits snug. ?
I'm already getting a Mach E. I don't need my phone to compensate ;)

Tesla Speeds
Fast (V2 and V3)
Medium (Urban Superchargers)
Slow (wall chargers)

CCS charging is all over the place with charge rates ranging from 24kW to 350kW, an over abundance of single stall 50kW chargers and cars (including the MME) taking more time to get to the same battery percentage. It's a mess.
it's the same if you just put numbers in rather than adjectives such as V2, V3, Medium, and Slow. Or just take out the numbers for the CCS chargers. With EA the chargers on interstates are Fast and around cities Medium. EVGo chargers are Medium. And all J1772 chargers are Slow.

The problem for CCS chargers is that they aren't seamless. What you want is the ability to simply plug in and have the charger recognize the car and charge it. Obviously not there but the path seems outlined. Until then it will be the same hassle as you have at a gas station.

"There are a few USB-A and USB-C plugs throughout, and a wireless charging pad, which I loved in theory, but in practice my iPhone 12 Pro kept sliding around, repeatedly triggering a distracting error message on the screen. It’s the kind of issue you don’t want in a car that’s supposed to be about fun driving."

I guess I'll be finding a way to secure my iPhone 12 Pro when I pick up Marlin.
Hence my earlier comments about MagSafe compatibility ?

this phone thing reminds me of a story I don't think I've told on here before (a quick search suggests I haven't)... it's not on topic really but what else is new.

when I was in college, we bought an HP V-series minicomputer. exactly what that is doesn't matter... what matters is that installation service was mandatory... so HP sends out a tech, some guy who was like 50 if he was a day, and he comes out in a Ford Taurus - second generation, the jelly bean one. In it was an official Ford-installed cell phone in the console... it seems it was so rare, I can't find a picture of it, but it existed as a fleet option. This was when I had that exact model bag phone I posted above, so having a phone installed in the console of the car was pretty amazing.

he told me that it was there because he drove all over the place and he had to be able to get called at a moment's notice by a customer or the dispatch center while driving around, be able to return calls when paged, and so on.

he also explained that HP had bought so many of the Tauruses (Taurii?) for their field folks, they had a dedicated dealer-style Ford service center at HP HQ in Silicon Valley that was just for handling the fleet... all his maintenance etc. was done there.

crazy.

I had an Oki bag phone in the 1990s. It transmitted at 10 watts, so it was usable when the closest tower was 60 miles away, and no other cellphone can even get a signal. I replaced it when all service was converted to digital. It was charged by the car through the 12 V socket. Later it was mounted in my 1984 Olds Ciera with an external antenna.

And the obligatory:

If you don’t own a Tesla, charging in the US is just a mess right now.

For instance, I took one drive to an Electrify America station, which is basically Volkswagen’s fledgling version of Tesla’s Supercharger network, and still ran into problems. The first plug I tried gave me repeated error messages. When I tried another plug, a moth flew out, and then the car charged far slower than it is supposed to. It was only after trying multiple stalls that I finally got a charging rate worth staying connected to — around 77kW, about half of what the Mustang Mach-E is ultimately supposed to get out of these fast-charging stations. (It was also somehow the only Electrify America station in all of Austin, Texas, which really needs to up its charging infrastructure game.)

This is a problem, and it needs to be fixed. It’s not necessarily Ford’s problem to fix, though Ford is combining a lot of these networks into what it has dubbed the “FordPass Charging Network.”
Either the narrator lives in a teepee or straw hut without electricity, or he is ignoring the fact that most EV owners charge most at their homes overnight and much less on the road.

Seemless is a nice extra but down the list from bigger priorities like charging speed and dependability. I don't mind 30 seconds of credit card activation so much, but not charging properly is a huge deal.

Ha! I had this one. My brother had it installed in my Ford Escort when I was at college. Yes, Ford Escort. Two door, mind you. Red, but not quite Rapid Red. I came home one day from school and was like where is my car. My mom told me my older brother had taken it to NC. Promptly called him up to bring it back and found this thing in it.

Wow, that's awful.

The average consumer likely has no idea how badly the cold kills BEVs. It's the dirty little secret that never gets talked about by the politicians and others pushing them.

They better get this figured out if they expect widespread adoption.
