TIRE HELP

Hello,

I live in Central Illinois. We got our GT Performance Package Mach-E last May (after a 9-month wait) and I'm starting to shop for tires for this winter. I don't want to leave the performance tires on. They do a decent job plowing but winter there's usually a few times a season that we end up having to drive on bad roads. Does anyone who lives in the area have a suggestion for a type of tire? Should I get winter tires? Can I get away with All-Season tires?

Just so you're aware, you should not be driving on those tires in cold weather at all. They are dangerous, and you can destroy the tires. In fact, you have to store them at 20 degrees or higher.

Pirelli's warranty does not cover tires that develop compound cracking due to use in ambient temperatures below 45° Fahrenheit (7° Celsius), so the P Zero, like all summer tires, is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Ah. I thought you meant LAST May as in 2022. Got it.

Some aren't aware of the cold limitation, then think you can't drive summer tires in snow, when it's actually Fall where they need to come off.

There are quite a few postings about good all season or winter tires. Here is one where a video comparison of Michelin tires was posted. I have the cross climate 2 because stability in winter driving was a primary goal for my wife. They meet that requirement very well. They are fine in dry conditions and since this is Chicago Illinois (flat, straight roads with lots of traffic), the lack of precision vs a performance tire is acceptable to me - and I don't have to worry about swapping the wheels and tires twice a year.
