TL;DR: My TPMS sensors no longer auto-sync with the car and I'm not sure why.
Background: Shortly after getting my Mach-E in 2024, I bought a new set of GTPE wheels that came with OEM TPMS sensors. I had the tires and sensors mounted, installed the wheels, and the sensors synced automatically with the car almost immediately. No issues.
About a year later, I started getting an intermittent TPMS fault on the driver's-side rear tire. At first it only happened occasionally, but eventually it became a daily occurrence. Around the same time, I picked up a nail and developed a slow leak in that tire. I don't think the two issues are related, but thought it was worth mentioning.
Late last summer, I bought a new set of Rally wheels from Ford, which also came with TPMS sensors, along with a set of CC2s for the winter months. After swapping the GTPE wheels for the Rallys, I was still getting the TPMS fault. I tried using the TPMS learning tool that came with the sensors, but I couldn't get that one corner to sync.
I eventually made a service appointment, and the technician was able to get all four sensors synced. Problem solved... Or so I thought.
After a period with no issues, the TPMS faults returned. This time it wasn't just the driver's-side rear—it started happening on other corners as well, but mostly the driver's rear. Like before, it was intermittent at first, then gradually became a daily occurrence.
Now for the really weird part: I recently swapped back to my GTPE wheels, which previously synced automatically without any trouble, but now they won't sync. Every day I get a fault indicating that none TPMS sensors are being detected.
Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas what might be causing this? I'm wondering if it's worth trying the TPMS learning tool again, or if there could be something else going on with the vehicle itself.
Edit: Clarification
