That's their way of telling you they don't want your car. ;)

That's funny, I just did the same thing yesterday on the urging of my Tesla fanboy friend. It's about 14k under Blue Book, which is also too low.

I recently did the same for my 2022 GTPE with 33,000KM and got a similar $35k trade-in valuation. The best part was the follow-up email from someone at Tesla asking if I had any questions of if they could help in any way. I replied that if/when they want to send me a serious trade-in value, we could talk but right now, this was the most non-serious offer I've ever seen lol

Since Tesla does not retail used cars (other than the Tesla brand) they do not want to take trade ins. Until recently, Tesla would not even take in trade ins, and only started to do so once they did not have long waiting lists for new cars. The non-tesla trade ins they do take in go right to dealer auction, and prices there can be brutal especially after the auction fees get assessed. That is why you are seeing such a low ball offer.

It’s funny how recency bias changes our tune so quickly.

2021-2022- of course you can trade in your Mach E for more than you paid for it.

2023- of course your Mach E has terrible trade in value.

Tesla offers are known to be low. Their offer for my Clarity was bout $5k less than what I got from Carmax, which was about 4K more than what the Ford dealer would give me.

It's pretty widely known that Teslas estimates are pretty low compared to Caravan and Vroom even. You'd have better data by using them instead of Tesla. Remember Tesla doesn't really want any non teslas since they don't really have lots to sell them on. They would turn them over to someone else right away.

Tesla does not like buying cars because they have to sell it at the auction, what was the offer from other retailers? Carvana, Carmax, Vroom? it's a 2021 w 60k miles though.

Isn't Tesla pretty notorious for lowball trade in offers?

Tesla doesn't sell used cars, they're pricing their offers to make money at auctions. This is the other side of the "no hassle" process.

We need stability in the market. These wild price swings create fear and hesitation.

Is my car going to tank in value? Should I wait to buy until it gets cheaper? Both reasonable questions we don’t know the answer to.
