I have an appointment with my Ford derler's service department, but I'm wondering if anyone has encountered anything similar or has advice on talking to the service department. My car simply won't DC charge anymore.

I was at a Ford-branded DC charger, and after charging I couldn't get the charger out of the car. After several hours stranded at the charger, another Mach-E owner showed that what was needed is to push the connector in hard first, and only then you can pull it out. We got it out, went to our destination, and L2 charged just fine.

When travelling home, we needed DC charging again. I tried 4 different DC chargers, and none would work. The car errors with a red ring almost immediately. We had to sit at an L2 charger for 5 hours to get enough juice to get home.

What's going on? What should I be asking the Ford service department?

After a bunch of searching, of course I post this thread and then found what I think is the exact issue just minutes later: TSB 23-2014

I'll ask the dealer to check that TSB!

Yes, you probably damaged the charge port lock mechanism, which will disable DC charging if damaged. The dealer will have to replace it. AC charging should still work. That is the TSB I would mention.

Remember to always press the unlock button on the charge port to remove the DC cable. If it won't unlock, make sure the car is unlocked first (open driver's door first). Never try to force the latch down to get it to unlock.
