The description i read said every puxel of the experiece will be provided by apple, on all screens, including speed, climate and entertainment. Which is to say, no Car maker software.OEM infotainment system will still be there. AA and CP have always just been an overlay of the OEM system, even if it were projecting Maps or music via the driver's instrument cluster or the HUD. It's just that now, Apple now has got access to more vehicle data and control units.
The question is, will CarPlay Ultra still be an option besides regular CarPlay for those who would like to continue using CarPlay in the current way.
Given Mach-E was, together with the Taycan, the only vehicle to allow Apple Maps to use the HV battery SoC, I think Ford's definitely in on this. Whether for the current SYNC 4/4A, that's a question.
As apple has been developing a car themselves and cancelled it, keeping the software effort alive seems plausible.
