Windshield Cracked

I made a fist to kill a small bug and did not hit the windshield hard and it cracked significantly (see picture). I called dealer and they said it could be due to the heat that day (about 93 degrees F). I need to replace the windshield. I have a 2021 with about 25k miles. Anybody else have a similar issue?

Yes, people have reported similar experiences. I recommend not hitting the windshield.

My 22 developed a crack in the lower driver corner at about 30k miles. No fist…. no rock.
It was not covered by warranty. My insurance did pay for replacement.

I had an insignificant rock chip below the wipers that turned into a long crack on a hot day sitting in the sun, very expensive at Safelite.

I replaced a windshield because of a crack, Satelite quoted me $1.6K for the replacement.
Had to pay $1k out of my pocket and Insurance covered the rest.
After this incident, I switched my Insurance to Progressive for their $50 windshield deductable plan.

Seriously though, the windshields seem to be on the weak side. I wonder if the IRR layer has any play in that?
