you mention that other wireless chargers don’t have the heat problem. I will point out that wireless charging at home isn’t using Apple CarPlay (very intensive on the WiFi radio, the Bluetooth radio, the GPS radio and perhaps keeping the screen on while trying to force more power to the battery) which causes a ton of heat.
As a Pokémon Go player, our phones used to overheat because of screen brightness, high CPU load, and GPS use while trying to keep the phone charged with a power bank. It’s all about how intense the usage is, and wireless CarPlay is pretty intense usage.
Understood. My former vehicle did not have this issue however

My suggesion is to either plug in to charge, or get a 3rd party wireless charger like the one offered by Twraps.
We got one of those and love it it’s great because we can charge both of our phones simultaneously! This is something Ford should’ve done right the first time!

That’s odd. That was happening a few years ago and the addressed it with a TSB. Mine was overheating until the TSB was done.
Mine was failing to charge until the TSB was done. After that it started overheating my phone.
