Picked up my car Friday afternoon. Pretty happy with it so far - much of my observations mirror others. After going through the setup process for me (at the dealer) and then with my wife, I have some comments about that.

Good Stuff:
  • Pretty cool platform and reasonably good execution for a 1.0 car.
  • 95% as advertised; no serious disappointments.
  • Echo most of what everyone else is saying, so no real surprises there.
  • Digging the one-pedal mode and auto-follow/lane hold cruise control features.
Huh? Stuff:

[I suspect a lot of my "Well that's weird" software things will either be something I adapt to or that are fixed via an OTA update.]
  • OMG HOW MANY PINS AND PASSWORDS DO I NEED?!
  1. FordPass Password
  2. FordPass PIN
  3. Door PIN
  4. Enable (Ignition) Override Password/PIN (you choose, but numbers-only has to be at least 10 digits)
  5. Valet PIN (you can't set it - it's random)
  6. PAAK Setup PIN (only used one time and autocopied in app, but yet another PIN)
  7. I've probably forgotten one or two there are so many.
This wouldn't all be so bad, but they all have different length and complexity requirements, so I can't just use the same thing everywhere. This is setting me up for a "Which *^&% password does it want this time?" problem months or years from now.
  • Auto-wiper (rain sensing) mode worked once and apparently never again.
  • Driver display is too wide if you're over about 5'6" - your head is far enough back that you can't see the edges of the display through the wheel. (Will also be nice to have a speedo display instead of digits - I like being able to do a spatial check instead of arithmetic to tell if I'm on speed or not.)
  • CarPlay refused to work this morning after working all weekend.
  • Bluetooth kept cutting out today - had to reconnect it about every 5 minutes.
  • Waving my foot under the rear bumper works about 10% of the time. 0% if you count trying to get it to close (would be a nice feature).
  • I can't set a "charge when plugged in, but only charge to xx%" schedule - I have to pick a place and set up a "Anytime" schedule, but then it might not charge when first plugged in.
  • The front door handles are dumb. I will probably try to remove these.
  • Why is the glass roof 1/8" above the front windshield? I might take some black silicone to this to fair it. Definitely heard this wind noise.
  • FordPass app needs to not make alert chimes every time you read / delete a message. Also, it needs more control over what it alerts you about. It chimes me for eeeeverything.
  • Manual frunk latch is out of place with all the other motors and buttons on every door. Also, lack of easy configurability of the divider is annoying.
  • After you set up your profile and until you save a seat and mirror position, it will apparently set it to all the way back, so you need to do this right away or have to move it every time you get in the car.
That's about it for now... pretty happy with the car. The Huh? list is mostly minor annoyances and doesn't really impact my enjoyment.

Wait, you don't want to be messaged when you arrive home? Well, you might be asleep and not realize you're home.
