My 2021 Select just died - the High Voltage Battery Junction Box had a stuck contactor and the car would no longer start. I got the bright idea to try and trade it in rather than wait for the repair to be complete. I really didn't have high hopes.

McGovern Ford of Framingham MA gave me an incredible deal on a new 2024 GTPE. They took my car in trade because it was a warranty service and gave me what I wanted for it. After some back and forth, they gave me an offer I couldn't refuse. The purchase price is almost what I paid for the 2021 select - absolutely incredible change in EV market dynamics and 0% financing.

First impression: Holy Moly, I had no idea what I was missing.

First off, this car looks incredible. I've never gone for red before, but damn if it doesn't look stunning with the black GT accent trim. The 2024 GTPE wheels are magnificent and look amazing with the Brembo calipers. I've got the lighted pony badge now and I'm not ashamed to admit how much I wanted that one little feature. The interior accent lights are such a treat, and the materials and fit and finish are top notch - way better than the Select. The seats are amazingly comfortable, and so far, I have no complaints about the glass roof.

As I pulled out of the dealer I got my first real dose of the power. The car is astonishingly fast. I'm looking forward to the much longer range and faster charging speeds. After about 30 miles of driving I can also say that the Magneride suspension in the 2024 is FAR BETTER than the suspension in my Select, which was my only big gripe about a car that I really loved. The suspension was just awful and constantly sounded like it was just bottoming out. It was literally painful to experience on poor city roads.

I'm looking forward to learning about bluecruise and experimenting with that as well. We'll see how things go - Right now I'm drunk on new-car smell.

I'm somewhat cowed by the HVBJB failure in my old car - it's going to take a while for me to get over that and start really trusting this. I'm hoping this third-generation part has finally gotten the failure rate to nil.

But apart from that, I'm over the moon right now! Wish me luck,

Ford SJBs aren't so "smart," and Ford ICE Mustang owners need to be smarter.
In 2021 my 2007 Mustang GT started greeting me with a dead battery every morning. The 6-cd changer would cycle while the car was off and ultimately stopped working as a cd changer entirely. The car spent months (literally!) in a nearby Ford dealership while they pretended not to understand why there was a constant battery drain. Charged me hundreds of dollars to attach a little $0.39 green plastic twist cap to a battery post requiring me (my wife and daughters) to pop the hood and screw down the cap to start the car, and then pop the hood again to unscrew it when parked; in the rains, at night, etc.
And then I discovered Ford's 2008 TSB on Mustang SJBs!! The TSB describes, almost verbatim (in 2008!) what my "Customer states" was happening with the car when I first brought it in. The day I picked it up, it was out front looking beautiful (as always), and as I waited with paperwork in hand after paying nearly $500, I saw the dealership valet grab a battery charger and trot to my car. So I trotted after him. I still have the tag that was attached to the ignition key on which it was written: "Needs to be Jumped." There was quite scene, as I pulled the car across their two service lanes after it was jump-started, turned it off, and refused to accept it.
So, Ford agreed to keep giving me new batteries (to stop me from getting the car towed in over and over again, they agreed that I could just bring in the batteries! Then, I discovered that '08 TSB on the Mustang's SJB problems, bought and installed a used SJB from eBay (Ford stopped making them) and sold the car to a mechanic; along with the old SJB and a copy of the TSB.
After purchasing a brand new 2010 Flex (loved it) and spending thousands of dollars servicing two cars there, I never went back to that dealership.

I got my 2024 Select (Grabber Blue, I like having colors that most other people don't have, wife has a Grabber Orange 2008 Mustang and gets compliments on all the time) on a 3-year lease. This is the very first time I have ever leased a car. Got a great deal on it, but the main reason for the lease is because the tech is changing so fast, we wanted to leave our options open.

The 2024 is the first year for the LFP battery, so you now have that. And even though I didn't get it, right now there is the fact that Ford will install a home level 2 charger for free. I believe the NACS adapter is included too. I got that for free too (but it hasn't shipped yet). Also, got the Ford charger for free, the one that has the swappable plug for level 1 or level 2 (I'm using it for level 2 and get 7Kwh out of it, not bad for a small charger). This isn't the "big one" that the new customers are now getting, but it is the one that sells on the Ford store for $500.

There are certainly some pretty sweet deals to be had.

BTW it looks like you need to update your Vehicles selection in this forum.:wink:

Agree 100%. Just picked up my 2024 GT last week trading in my 2022 Highway 1 Select. Totally different car and with way better suspension. Love it.

Ford 0% financing gives me a slightly smaller payment with other people’s money.

I went from a ‘21 GT-PE to a ‘24 GT with Performance Upgrade. Not a lot of difference down low, but I am digging the longer duration under power before hitting the performance limiter. I always liked the seats, but last weekend I had that reinforced. I went on a 6.5 hour drive to go duck hunting with my boss in his F150 Raptor. I much prefer my MME’s seats. ??

That's a sexy red machine! Congrats on the upgrade.

Like you, I'm typically not a red car guy, but damn, that is sweet looking. Is my jealous showing any?

That's exactly how I always describe it too. It feels like I'm bottoming out going over city street dips/bumps/ruts. It's fine on a smooth highway but damn, it's harsh and jarring on un-smooth city streets.

As you say, it's my one main gripe. Everything else is an occasional annoyance, but the hard ride is there every time. Feels like a $59,000 car in nearly every way, but with the suspension of a $15,000 econobox.

Interestingly, my sales guy told me that most of his customers are looking for Vapor Blue. He was complaining that he can't find enough of them to sell. Weird to me...I like the Vapor Blue, but it's probably my least favorite of the color offerings.

Welcome to the GT club. Now the question is, how do we get it to go faster?
I'm not sure I need it to go any faster than this!

What I'm a little concerned about is the cold weather efficiency. After three days of driving I've not seen it go above 2.2 mi/kwh. The GoM range is thus far underwhelming even with the extended range battery.

Granted, we're in a polar vortex right now :D
