2024 Mach-E GT 1/4 mile trap speed (without performance upgrade) shows less limiting

Someone posted on Facebook. Looks like even without the performance upgrade the 2024 GT has “less of a limit,” based on the 107 mph trap speed-

No clue on temperature, state of charge or traction.

But the 107 mph trap is faster than any 2021-2023 has done.

Yes, a 2024+ GT will be faster in the 1/4 mile than the previous ones, even without the performance upgrade because of the 5 second rule being eliminated with the 2024+ thermal strategies.

I assumed that to be the case, but Ford was still claiming the OLD 1/4 mile time and 0-60 for the 2024 GT without the performance upgrade.

With the limit gone though and that 107+ trap speed, it’s definitely gonna be faster.

This was just the first time I’ve seen anything posted about it.

Would love to see some more tests or a side by side comparison.

My guess is (if Ford horsepower and tq numbers are accurate) a regular GT should trap even higher than this 107 in ideal conditions.

Since they both have the same 480 peak tq, the extra 100 lb/ft should be done before 40 mph.

But without a Dyno or side by side race we can’t be sure.

What were the changes in the thermal strategies? I thought the limitation was driven because of a combination of a lack of sufficient temperature monitors in the system and a battery cooling system that didn’t have sufficient capacity?

That's legitimate, I was able to get ahold of her on this, and she might drop to answer some questions about it.

She has actual time slips posted in the Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Facebook group as well, if you want to see those.

'24 vs '23 GT/PE is about .1 quicker 1/4 mile, and 6mph faster trap speed in the 1/4.

The upgrade download is .6 and 6 mph faster in the 1/4 than the non-upgraded download '24.

I believe Mach-Lee explained some of this in his review of the 2024 models about 5? Months ago here on macheforum. Perhaps search for him and 2024 Mach-e?

I would be curious about the run. State of charge, traction and temperature outside.

I would think that 6 mph advantage would be worth more than .1 in the 1/4 if a perfect run (fully charged, warm and good traction).

But if this was ideal, that tells us the performance update may add some horsepower as well as tq.

We really need someone to throw these cars on the dyno.

Hey Guys!
That's my Dragy pass -- 2024 GT * before * purchasing the Performance Upgrade.
I took it to the track and ran two passes on a test n tune night in cool weather in Florida, so not the most ideal conditions but pretty good. I did have one jail bar before the first pass, and two before the second pass. Ironically, my second pass was the better time per track calculations. The runs were nearly identical on Dragy (attaching photos). I did a 12.83 Dragy pass a week later on the street with ~50% SOC, 56*f ambient temps, for a point of reference (also attached).

I just did the Performance upgrade last week, so I will be testing performance-enabled vs performance-disabled to see if there is any difference once it's been downloaded. I will try and run in comparable conditions to my baseline to get an accurate comparison. Also going to work on some weight reduction and different tire pressure, etc., to see what impact it has, if any.

Thanks @blueovaltech for the heads up on this-- I was disappointed that no one cared about performance in the MME Performance group on FB lol.

We have only seen runs with the Performance Upgrade since that's how most of the GTs have been delivered (including mine). A bunch of us have been curious about the non-upgraded car's performance. Thank you for posting your results! ??

Also good to note about the grey bars on those passes. It lets us know the car is capable of more.

I’m also curious about the 2024 premium 4X with 500 tq now. I would guess it’s only a few tenths behind the base GT.

No problem!
The premium 4x lacks magneride and upgraded front motor, but weighs 200 lbs less (GVW). So I’d guess it’s a few tenths slower, too… maybe more if there’s a few tenths difference between previous year GT and 2024 GT.
My butt dyno says that the performance upgrade increased torque by ~15% overall. Power band has definitely gotten longer— there’s more torque down low than there was before, AND up towards 70-80mph. I’ll put her back to 95%+ SOC soon and go do some passes to see what the time slips say.
