Hi Mustang Mach-E Owners –

For those of you that have received the BlueCruise 1.3 software update, we hope you are enjoying the improved performance and new features!

As a result of the software update rollout, we have seen some questions pop up around the slider options within ‘Settings’ on the in-vehicle screen and wanted to provide some additional information. We want to apologize for any confusion.

The BlueCruise 1.3 software update is a large package, and this software rollout is done in segments as we update multiple system modules, including the in-vehicle screen. Based on your model year, some owners may experience a delay in getting updates via ‘Settings’ on the in-vehicle screen. Not to worry, this will all be restored with a future software update. We also want to assure you that the sequence in which we roll out the software update has a thoughtful process on the backend.

Here are more details if you are experiencing this:
  • When you receive the BlueCruise 1.3 software update, ‘Lane Change Assist’ and ‘In-Lane Repositioning’ will be turned ON automatically.
  • You may have noticed that if you go into your in-vehicle screen ‘Driver Assistance’ settings, there may no longer be a toggle option to turn the settings OFF. The toggle option to turn these features ON and OFF will be refreshed with a future software update.
  • Some of you may have noticed that the ‘Speed Tolerance’ settings associated with Speed Sign Recognition are no longer accessible. If you are impacted by this it will also be addressed with a future software update. Look for this feature to be renamed to ‘Predictive Speed Assist’.
  • If you want to turn off your BlueCruise functionality for any reason, you can do so by toggling off the ‘Lane Centering with Hands Free’ slider within the Adaptive Cruise Control menu in Driver Assistance settings.
Thank you for your patience as we work to roll out BlueCruise 1.3 to all of our 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E owners!

I think this was a good attempt at addressing some concerns and how to deal with changes to the settings screen. Appreciate the attempt at detail.

That said, I've already been told I'm a Ford bootlicker, so please disregard the above statement. My thoughts and opinions are invalid.

Is this a similar issue to not having the Public Charging app?

Coming from BlueCruise 1.0, the 1.3 update is excellent!

I could drive hands-free from San Jose to San Francisco over Highway 280 without a single disengagement or intervention. In the past, this hilly, busy, and curvy highway caused numerous BlueCruise 1.0 disengagements. With 1.3, the MME subtly cuts the curves in the Highway rather than staying stubbornly centered in the middle of the lane as 1.0 did. Keeping a little distance from cars in adjacent lanes is a big improvement. Stop-and-go traffic jam driving with full stops also seems smoother in 1.3.

The lane change feature works well, though it moves over a little more jerky than necessary.

That seems like a strange word selection to me.
The software engineer types on the forum have complained a good bit. I’ll allow it. :D The “thoughtful process” is still opaque. It does allow me as the consumer to invent Randall Monroe-esq stories about why it is so challenging. Something involving White hats, Swords, Velociraptors, and skating across the office in a chair.

Edit: I received 4 updates in the last 24 hours and I am all for it!

I am a paying customer for Blue Cruise but still on 1.0. When will the OTA update be abailable for 2021 owners. ?

BC 1.0 jerked so hard to the right it would take me past the white line and onto the rumble strips. I refused to pay for the continued subscription as this was a major safety hazard to me and my family.

How will I be able to test the full functionality of 1.3 without paying to be yet another beta tester? @Ford Motor Company
