This is typical of modern software development which occurs and is implemented in stages. I agree that this post is really helpful and exactly the type of communication we customers have requested for the past couple years.
Totally agree. Here’s hoping Ford keeps it up!

This was the funniest line for me, "some owners may experience a delay in getting updates via ‘Settings’ on the in-vehicle screen. Not to worry, this will all be restored with a future software update."

So, for those of you not getting software updates, don't worry. We'll fix that with a software update ...

I am eagerly anticipating the 1.3 improvments. I have had no apparent "updates" since last October (4.5.2, I think). The car has been perfect, so I've not been complaining, just curious as to why, when others are getting frequent OTAs.

Finally made a trip to the dealer to register my concern about when I'll get BC and the update to allow P&C Supercharger use. The seemingly knowledgable Service Writer confidently and convincingly explained that even if I don't get screen notifications, modules are continually updating in the background. He says that if Tesla EVSE show up in the nav (which they do) that update is done. I was shown onscreen that there were only a couple of "minor" updates due but not yet completed.

Any of you experts with insider connections care to comment whether this rings true or is simply a well-rehearsed spiel to get me out of the door?

This seems to make the whole OTA process of letting customers know when their cars get improvments, rather worthless, since it isn't apparently applied universally.

Hi Mustang Mach-E Owners –

For those of you that have received the BlueCruise 1.3 software update, we hope you are enjoying the improved performance and new features!

As a result of the software update rollout, we have seen some questions pop up around the slider options within ‘Settings’ on the in-vehicle screen and wanted to provide some additional information. We want to apologize for any confusion.

The BlueCruise 1.3 software update is a large package, and this software rollout is done in segments as we update multiple system modules, including the in-vehicle screen. Based on your model year, some owners may experience a delay in getting updates via ‘Settings’ on the in-vehicle screen. Not to worry, this will all be restored with a future software update. We also want to assure you that the sequence in which we roll out the software update has a thoughtful process on the backend.

Here are more details if you are experiencing this:
  • When you receive the BlueCruise 1.3 software update, ‘Lane Change Assist’ and ‘In-Lane Repositioning’ will be turned ON automatically.
  • You may have noticed that if you go into your in-vehicle screen ‘Driver Assistance’ settings, there may no longer be a toggle option to turn the settings OFF. The toggle option to turn these features ON and OFF will be refreshed with a future software update.
  • Some of you may have noticed that the ‘Speed Tolerance’ settings associated with Speed Sign Recognition are no longer accessible. If you are impacted by this it will also be addressed with a future software update. Look for this feature to be renamed to ‘Predictive Speed Assist’.
  • If you want to turn off your BlueCruise functionality for any reason, you can do so by toggling off the ‘Lane Centering with Hands Free’ slider within the Adaptive Cruise Control menu in Driver Assistance settings.
Thank you for your patience as we work to roll out BlueCruise 1.3 to all of our 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E owners!
Sorry to add just another thank you, but seriously, thank you.

I think this kind of thing is exactly what many of us owners want to see more of and reflects what we would expect from a software company which Ford and other traditional OEMs are getting used to being.

I spent some time yesterday trying to see if it was maybe just a weird bug I could get around by cycling settings and testing different configuration to get the speed tolerance working, and then found this thread today which is going to save me from messing with it any further for now.

I know you hear a lot of negative responses, and much of it for things outside your control (those making these posts), but hopefully all the positive responses from customers will get back to management and they understand this is exactly what is needed.

How did you get BC 1.4 in a 2021.
The “1.4” update is what was available for all vehicle model years since around December in FDRS. Then at the beginning of this month, Ford replaced that version with the new 1.3 build for 2022s and 2023s.

Technically, the ”1.4” build was only supposed to be for EA members and be a closed rollout, but it leaked to the public. Then Ford made the update available for everyone if they used FDRS to update their cars - it never went OTA.

Even today if you update your 2021 with the latest version of the IPMA and PSCM in FDRS, you will be on the “1.4“ build. The 1.3 version thats rolling out to 2022s and 2023s now is newer than this existing build, even though it’s called 1.3. My guess is that Ford wants to sweep the whole 1.4 thing under the rug and just consider it all 1.0 or 1.2 but ?‍♂

I believe within the next month or so they will give us 2021 owners 1.3 as well, but we don’t have any official word on that yet.

BC 1.2 - My predictive cruise slams on the brakes from 55 to 25mph on rural roads. It also picks up frontage road speed limit signs from 2 lanes plus a large median away. Any chance these have been updated in BC 1.3?

Also - after entering the interstate and merging with the traffic flow BC 1.2 picks up the first speed limit sign and then rapidly reduces the cruise speed setting to the posted speed. This is dangerous at highway speeds. I turned off auto speed detection. - Just so you know the vehicle is well aware of the highway posted speed limit as it is displayed on the dash prior to reaching and detecting that first speed limit sign.,

I do applaud the effort to put out that information. I assume that about the time I get all the updates necessary to enjoy the full Blue cruise 1.3, my free trial will be over and I'll lose it. There is no way I would EVER pay $800 a year for blue cruise no matter how much it improves.
